The principle of function

The way how to use the module is showed best by tracing the command flow from the remote control up to the reaction of the target application:

The receiver is plugged in the serial interface and sends the received signals to the "reception program" WinLIRC. There are the pressed remote control buttons detected for further processing.
To let this work, WinLIRC must know the remote - For this remote type and brand we need a configuration file. If it exists not yet, WinLIRC can learn the remote to know.

Finally need the keys of the remote become assigned to the application to be controlled.
This is the task of the Client. The manual describes the procedure for the Client IRAssistant. There are also, for some popular applications, ready to use configuration files for this step.

If you got the suitable remote control you need not configure anything at all.
